this whole blog, read in order

Shortly before the Christmas season (I don't remember the exact day) I had what I've been calling a nice thought. This was nothing more than an idea popping into my head. I thought to myself, I would really love to have someone go through and read all my blog postings, one-by-one in order. Hopefully someone with a fresh perspective could give me a little bit of feedback. But mostly, I just wanna know if I've lost my mind.

Maybe I should have a contest? The first person to read the whole thing could win a gift certificate for ice cream!

Then, just a few days later (or hours later? I can't really figure it out) I received a very nice comment on the winter solstice, from someone calling himself Brizdaz. And, he really did go through and read every post! His summation was entirely complimentary! So, from his feedback, both funny and insightful, I feel reassured that I'm not insane. And, curiously, his very first comment to me (see bellow) was inspired by owls.

Mike,

This is the first time I have read your blog and I find it truly fascinating, so I've decided to start right at the beginning and work my way through ... The first post I read on this blog was "Owl on a Cold Winter's Night" ... then I started scrolling down, and thought, where do I start - the answer - at the beginning, of course.

So I went right back and started scrolling up. So far,I'm as far as the "Owls at Sunset" post, and a thought entered my head that maybe owls are some sort of alien/hybrid cross also, and maybe they can work as a type of alien messenger or drone type creature for aliens to watch us from afar? They do appear otherworldly compared to most birds.

Just a thought, and love the blog.

(PLEASE NOTE: the comment above is slightly edited for brevity)

“Is that a crystal around your neck?”

I was on my bike at night in downtown Bozeman Montana looking for ice cream. It was late enough that a lot of places were closed, so I rode to the gas station at the edge of town. It was open, and I got a pint out of the freezer and went up to the counter. As I was paying the woman behind the counter looked at me oddly, and then cautiously asked me a question:

“Is that a crystal around your neck?”

I said yes.

Okay - I have been wearing a lepidolite crystal on a chain around my neck. This alone should tell you how far over the edge I’ve gone in immersing myself in this ongoing weirdness. The events surrounding this thing, the how's and the why's, would be it’s own series of nutty blog postings (someday, maybe). The story is interesting, but I’ll leave it for another time.

Back to the gas station.

The woman is extremely polite, and explains that the way the stone is mounted, the energy is leaking out the bottom. It’s a tiny egg shaped stone, and it hangs from the chain with the skinny axis going up and down. She told me that it should be set so that it’s sideways to the present axis.

I said thank you, and I took her suggestion seriously.

I got on my bike and rode down the empty main street of this little town. I had a very simple and calm feeling, and I thought to myself, “What am I supposed to make of that? Should I follow up on her recommendation?”

And - At that instant, the streetlight above me went off.

That thought, and that calm feeling seems to be a very real pattern. It comes up in a way that I don’t control, there is no stress or anxiety, they simply appear in my mind as, just a nice calm thought (and David Huggins tells of the same nice thoughts, and their relevance). I get the strong impression that I should trust these nice thoughts.

Coming to terms with these experiences has been extremely difficult. It’s been worrisome (am I insane?) and scary (WTF?). I will dwell on this quandary, and it’s unhealthy. I can get stuck in an oppressive head-space, so when these nice thoughts appear - I recognize them for what they are. At least I hope I do.

crop circle synchronicities

a big map of Kansas and three points along a line

This story, told by my sister blogger in a video format, is strangely similar to my experience.

I had a thought that my little community needed a crop circle, and it appeared that night in a wheat field near by. It was a simple thing, just a nice thought.

Here's an excerpt form a prevous blog posting:
It was mid-day (summer 2002) and I was at my desk ... and I had this sudden flash. I thought to myself: We need a crop circle here, that would be so fun ... This thought just emerged in my mind out of nowhere ...

The next day, I saw a friend on the street here in Driggs. We chatted for a little while and then she offhandedly added, “You know that a crop circle appeared in Teton last night.”

This was the day when I met Stace at this set of circles. And she saw a silvery disc above the formation.

And, for those hard core paranormalist out there, what was that curious flash at the 3:oo mark?

Read Stace's comments at her blog.

streetlights

Last week I was in Bozeman Montana. I was on my bike riding through the cute streets of the downtown neighborhoods. It was nighttime and snowing, and it was really pretty. As I rode, I calmly thought to myself, “Nothing strange has happened in a little while, has this weird part of my life ended?”

And, at that exact instant, the streetlight directly above me shut off.

Ha! I laughed out loud. It was funnier than it was weird. I tried to ride past some other streetlights to see if it would happen again (it didn't).

I’ve experienced this occasionally over the years, where street lights will turn off as I approach them, but it’s been inconsistent, so I don’t really consider it strange. But that night, riding my bike in the wet snow, it felt different. It felt like I asked a question - and I got an instantaneous reply.

The question was just a playful nice thought, nothing needy or pleading, and this seems to be a pattern for me. Simple questions that just pop into my head are somehow more relevant.

ALSO: I have another nice thought event with the same street-light response.

[Text added: May 1st, 2009]

A mutual blogger named Stace (one of my sister blogs) just posted an insightful essay on her streetlight experiences.

Singing the Body Electric
{an excerpt}

I’ve thought about “the streetlight effect” quite a lot, because the phenomenon of knocking out streetlights happens around me quite a bit. These events are also episodic to a degree, typically clustered around times when I perceive my quantum vibration to be intensely high, whether I’m relaxed or excited.

Based on how I feel energetically, I can generally predict whether or not I’ll be knocking out streetlights on a given night. If I’m driving home from an intriguing lecture or have just been involved in a fractalising conversation, or if I’m just thinking, thinking, thinking and making new connections - that’s when I’m more likely to affect streetlights.

Teton crop circle

Teton Idaho, 2002
This is an event from the summer of 2002. This was the weekend that the movie SIGNS premiered, with crop circles as part of the plot.

It was mid-day and I was at my desk doing the mundane stuff of my everyday life, and I had this sudden flash. I thought to myself: We need a crop circle here, that would be so fun, and it would really shake things up.

This thought just emerged in my mind out of nowhere. And the idea seemed have a simple sort of playful tone. It was just a nice thought.

The next day, I saw a friend on the street here in Driggs. We chatted for a little while and then she offhandedly added, “You know that a crop circle appeared in Teton last night.”

What?

I was surprised, and I asked her for any details. She had actually just returned from visiting the circle. It was outside the little town of Teton Idaho just a few miles away. I realized that I needed to go visit this thing. And within minutes I bumped into another pal, a fellow named Jeff and told him about it. Without any hesitation, we both hopped in my little Subaru, and we drove to the area. Jeff has been a friend from my little town since I moved here, and he is a good sounding board for all things paranormal and conspiratorial. We are strangely similar in our fascination with this fringe stuff.

When we arrive a the circle, there were a lot of cars parked along side the little country road, and a lot of people milling around. We looked up onto a gentle little hill and we saw an obvious pattern of circles in the field of wheat. We hop out of the car and we immediately meet a very attractive woman. We start talking and she says she is doing research. She has a series of little plastic ziploc bags filled with soil samples and crop samples all labeled and organized.

Then, and this came out of nowhere, she announces that she is working on a book about UFO’s. I was a little surprised, because she sort of changed the subject - and it was a topic I was extremely interested in. I asked what it was about, and she went on to say that it was a collection of curious and funny stories associated with the UFO phenomenon.

Then she said something very interesting, “I am not sure of the title, but I know what I want the cover to look like. I want it to look just like a comic book cover from the 1950’s with exaggerated hand-lettering and drawings of people reacting to flying saucers in a cartoony sort of way.”

She went on, “I know exactly what I want, but I haven’t found an illustrator yet.”

With that, Jeff lets out a big belly laugh.

I pull out my wallet and hand her my business card. I say, “Well, you don’t have to look anymore, because I’m the guy.”

Now, I don’t know how much you (the reader) knows about me and my illustration style, but EVERYTHING that I draw seems to look like it’s stuck in a comic book from the 1950’s complete with exaggerated hand-lettering. So, this was more than a little bit coincidental.

Again, this synchronicity had a tone of playfulness.

I encourage you to follow up with another blog. Read a story about this same crop circle by the researcher noted above, she describes seeing a small disc shaped UFO above the formation as she was making measurements. [click here] The post is dated March 3rd, 2009.

And here's a link about this formation, [click here] for a write-up on the research from the UTAH UFO HUNTER'S website.
