quote from Carl Jung

I am listening to Memories, Dreams, Reflections as an audiobook, and was struck by this segment. Jung was addressing the mythic and how it is dismissed as futile by the intellect, yet he sees it as something valid. This excerpt comes from Chapter 11, titled: On Life after Death. He is wondering, as an old man, what the reality of life after death might mean. I feel his statement above would ring just as true if it were addressing UFOs—or mystical owl experiences.

You should maybe interview Laura London from the 'Speaking of Jung' podcast about Jung and UFOs/Owls as archetype on your 'The Unseen' show Mike, as I've heard Laura saying on other podcasts that she is into UFOs ... not that I've heard her say that she has personally seen one, or is a "contactee/abductee".
Could be an interesting chat?

Ha! I was thinking exactly that as I was typing up this post!

I actually had a gut feeling that you were thinking that for some reason, so I guess that I'm getting better at tapping into the "collective unconscious" right now:-)
We are all in this together, as they like to say in these Covid 19 times we are living through (if we are one of the lucky ones, that is).

The unlucky ones are no worse off than the "lucky ones", that's just the role they were given in this earthly drama, I think.
It's what they signed up for, in other words;-)

This resonates with what I’ve been reading in Nick Cook’s Ingo book (based on manuscripts written by Ingo Swann in 1989-1990). Ingo made this observation:

“No, in the psychic life of our society as a whole, there is an entire psychic layer of Western consciousness that resists any reviewing of basic assumptions. The assumptions that we, as a cultured group, are interested in are those we deem to be ‘proper’ in advance, and those that are workable with regard to making money or conferring power and prestige.

“If you pause a moment to think this over, perhaps you can see how difficult it will be to increase your psychic awareness or expand consciousness if, at the same time, this recalcitrant psychic resistance to reviewing basic assumptions is left intact.”

My favourite Jung quote is this:
“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.”

How about interviewing those two guys from 'The Mysterious Universe' podcast on your 'The Unseen' podcast Mike, to ask them just what their motivation and beliefs are on running that podcast week after week?
I'm curious as to just what motivates them.
Sometimes I just wonder if they are doing it for the money, or are genuinely interested in the topics they discuss.
Sometimes they seem serious about the stuff they talk about, but most times it seems all "shits & giggles".
It would be interesting to have the mic turned on them for once and to hear what makes them tick when it comes to the paranormal and the UFO/UAP phenomena.
Anyway just a thought.

Thank you Chris for my new favorite quote. I'll have it on the walls in all my rooms. It will get me through the tough days.
