owls and credit card advertising

creepy consumerism

You love what you love. Get more of it with unlimited rewards you can use on anything.
(contemptible tag-line from the marketing department)

We see a smiling hipster surrounded by kitchy owlsThis image and tag-line was lifted from an invasive "posting" on my facebook homepage. This is an advertisement for Capital One credit cards. This is an invitation to take part in rampant consumerism using owls as marketing tool. Yes, owls are popular right now, but this kind of thing is, to me, absolutely repellent.

I hate this kinda sh*t.

Etsy is no longer handmade but actually Ebay lite so there are a lot more owls now. Mostly from China.

The two large, round eyes of an owl resemble the MasterCard logo, or should it be the other way around? So in the case the Capital One credit card graphic this connection is made in a way that guides the subconscious. MasterCard, like Visa etc, is used to make purchases and agree to debt on a contractual basis.

When I was just a kid I saw a logo on the coats of two Gray type aliens which had a small design on it which looked very similar to the MasterCard design -- two intersecting circles with lines crossing the overlapping area.

As in dealing extensively with the Grays and other chthonic entities there can be contractual obligations in play which are not so different from the use of credit/debit cards. The currency is, however, not coin but soul.

When you encounter an owl in an intensely personal way this may be a sign of a debt owed . . .
