Ida Kannenberg, a delightful Contactee

The UFO community has lost one of its true jewels. Ida Kannenberg died on May 17th of this year, she was 95 years old.

Of all the authors that have inspired me, Ida was the one who I went back to over and over as a way to hold onto some sort of framework for this phenomenon. She told of life events that included UFOs, visitations from human entities, telepathic messages and channeling.

She lobbied that much of what might be perceived as literal was in fact metaphoric and they mythic. She wrote (or channeled) about the profound difference between spirit and the soul, something that went beyond what we might assume a UFO contactee wouldn't try to tackle. Plus - She was funny and sassy, and it makes her books perfectly delightful.

She was close friends with Leo Sprinkle, and he gave me her email address an encouraged me to reach out to her. I corresponded briefly during the winter of 2006. She was very supportive, as well as sharing stories about her cats:

"Princess Fiona gets into every nook and cranny of the house and into mischief at the same time. Lord Spike is too fat to get into the same corners. Old cranky Tibbetts just sleeps in the guest bed and sulks. Hope you are having a good Christmas time and will keep in touch through the new year. --- Ida Kannenberg"

I noticed that you mentioned her almost at the end of the interview with Chuck. When did you learn she had passed away?

Was she an experiencer herself as well?

I haven't read any of her books. Which one would you recommend to start getting acquainted with her material?

I do hope that by now she's closer to the answers we're all looking for.

Also - it was because I mentioned Ida Dannenberg during the audio interview that, a few days later, I did a simple search for her name in the Oregon obituaries. It took only a few clicks, and I soon found the sad news that I suspected.

Ida lived here in Oregon; I never had the opportunity to meet her, but I also received a nice email from her once. I've read several of her books, and like you, Mike, always found her to be unique, interesting, and "sassy," lol. I always thought Ida was brave, as well, for putting being so open about her experiences. I didn't know she had passed! Thank you for posting this Mike.

Hi- I am so sorry to hear that Ida Kannenberg has passed. I was attempting to contact her when I read your entry today.
I have had the same experience that she did, only 20 years after she did. Until I found her "Project Earth" in used book store, I thought that I was indeed crazy and very alone.
I am very interested in contacting others who have had this experience to compare details.
I regret the passing of this pioneer, but glad to see that she lived long and useful life. Do you know anyone I could discuss her with? I appreciate this avenue.

Carol,

You could talk with Leo Sprinkle, or Dena Blatt. Both of whom knew her and researched her experiences.

I am very curious about your experiences, I would be interested in hearing anything you would be willing to share.

Feel free to contact me directly.

Quite frankly, I was not able to read this material. I have read many books on alien-contactee authors, and this one seems to be a fake. Her book "of truth" used all the right words and many ideas to essentially say nothing coherent to me. The book "Project Earth" had these so-called aliens talking to her, but all they repeated was how glad they could share secrets, but never said anything worth hearing. I am sorry to bash her writings, but this does NOT ring true. I have read many TRUE stories of alien-contacts, and this seems like PURE misinformation
