we have blinders on - all of us

Jack from the web-site UFO Trial is working on a post focusing on potential solutions and constructive directions for ufology. He sent me an email and asked me for a quote, and this collided with some strong coffee.

Here's what I sent him:
This subject is so elusive that it's nearly impossible to formalize it like other sciences. You can't force the UFO peg into a hole of your own design. I am not a scientist, I'm ever the creative type, and I'm content ignoring anything that resembles a formalized process.
There are aspects of this phenomenon that challenge everything, including my definition of reality. There are little strings all tangled up that seem to go everywhere. Life and death, expanded conciseness, mind-control, emerging mythology, channeling, mysticism, synchronicity, psychic weirdness and outright magic are all connected.
Everything is on the table.
You start out questioning, "What is happening?" and you very quickly need to ask, "What is God?"
Too many researchers have locked themselves into confined little boxes. I've heard too many people say, "Well that's just ridiculous!" when asked about some of the outlying strangeness. When I dig into that preconceived ridiculous stuff, I find that there really is something going on there. It's complicated and slippery - but something is going on.

We are all human, and we are trying to peer into something from beyond our realm. True understanding might be impossible. We need to pull off our blinders, and this ain't easy. Or, at least we need to admit that we have these blinders - all of us.
I guess my point is that we need to admit that our own preconceived baggage is hindering the process of truly digging deeply into the subject. This include me too, I have my own crappy flaws that make me just as guilty as anyone else. Everyone is gunna have different conclusions, that's just what we get. But I really believe that everyone, no matter how nutty (or how conservative) is bringing important puzzle pieces to the table.

I couldn't agree more with your above comment Mike.
I think that you speak for all of us when you say this.

Excellent Mike! I really like and agree with what you're saying here. We have to be discerning between truth and lies, but we have to be open to the truth when it presents itself, no matter how strange it is.

Beautiful words, Mike. I think Mac would have liked this.

This is quite a summary... articulate and to the point.

I think that metaphor of a puzzle is not out of place. One of the things I think is very true is we have a lot of the pieces; I would go one step further than that. I think we have an outline of sorts of The Enigma.

I think it remains just out of reach because like the forest and the trees there is so much information, disinformation, and plain nonsense out there we cant see it for what it is... it is hidden but in plain sight. And has been for some time now.

Victor Marchetti wrote: “A ‘limited hangout’ is spy jargon for a favorite and frequently used gimmick of the clandestine professionals. When their veil of secrecy is shredded and they can no longer rely on a phony cover story to misinform the public, they resort to admitting—sometimes even volunteering—some of the truth while still managing to withhold the key and damaging facts in the case. The public, however, is usually so intrigued by the new information that it never thinks to pursue the matter further.” Uh... Wikipedia...
