my cat acts scared

My cat Spazzy, in a typically calm pose.

Last night I was alone in my little cabin sitting on the couch watching a DVD, my cat was sitting next to me, as always. Suddenly I was aware that she was acting really scared. She got into this really scrunched-up defensive pose and her tail poofed up huge. The hair along her back was sticking straight up. I tried to pet her to calm her down, but she didn’t respond at all. I could feel her back was rigid with tension. I leaned over and looked at her face and her eyes were entirely dilated and black.

She wasn’t moving, and she was entirely focused at an empty spot the center of the room just a few yards in front of the couch.

I saw nothing, and I sensed nothing. But my cat's overt display meant something.

I got up and walked around the house, and when I stood in the living room in front of the couch I could see right where she was focused. She stayed frozen in that anxious pose with her dilated eyes fixed on an empty spot right in the center of the room.

Am I paranoid? Should I worry? It went on for like 10 minutes. Eventually, she changed her posture, and she jumped down from the couch and sat under the coffee table, still focusing on that empty spot. At this point I was up and walking around, but she wasn’t following me at my ankles, and that is unusual. I watched as she eased her way closer to the spot in the center of the room and she cautiously sniffed around that spot.

There is a skittish side to my cat, and I’ve never seen her act like this. I've seen her deal with big dogs and loud noises, I know how she reacts to those kinds of stimulus, she’ll run upstairs and hide. After about 20 minutes she was her regular self again, zipping around the house and begging for attention.

I wrote this up because the event seemed decidedly unusual. It came on the heels of a very intense few weeks of heavy self examination culminating in a very real acceptance of my memories and their implications. Maybe this means nothing, and I'm articulating an underlying paranoia that comes with my journey.

Okay, I didn’t add this to the post above because it was so weird. My cat’s intensity was so acute that I absolutely KNEW something was in the room.

I got up from the couch and stood in the middle of the main room, and sort of stared into the spot that my cat was all focused on and I said (out loud) that I felt strong and confident. I said (firmly) if you have anything to say to me, I respond well when I receive messages in my sleep, so please communicate that way. (that said, nothing happened in my dreams that night)

This speaks to where I'm at these days. It felt absolutely normal to speak firmly and confidently at an empty spot on my living room rug.

I'll add that earlier in the day I had a 90-minute session with Anya, where she played the role of channel for me and my curious needs. She wrote me an email when she heard about my cat and her intense reaction.

Here's what she said:

"I don't want to freak you out, but sometimes, beings open portals to check things out. That is all they come to do. I think that's what happened - actually, hold on - the beings are saying that's exactly what happened. I think I should explain because I am not surprised this happened at all and cats are naturally psychic...

I think there was some high strangeness going on by proxy of some kind of connection to me. Other people I know have reported this sort of thing .... Idaho to NY to them is nothing in terms of distance ... it isn't the first time my 'boys' were checking up on people I associate with to feed the flame of 'knowledge' further along as it were ... No big deal."

Also: The movie on the DVD was THE HUSTLER (1961). This is an amazing movie, and maybe there is relevance. It's a story about deception, and 1961 is a relevant year in this blog.

And - Jackie Gleason, has an interesting place in UFO history. He was well-known as quite and aficionado on the UFO subject, and late one night (as the story goes) he went with his golfing pal Richard Nixon to an air-force base to view little alien bodies, supposedly from Roswell.

Just out of curiosity:

1)At what time did this occur?

2)What were you watching?

I've had the same experience with my cats. My wife and I were watching TV one night when both of our sleeping cats suddenly reared their heads up and began staring at the doorway into the kitchen.

They didn't puff up but their eyes dilated and they were totally focused on... something. My wife and I didn't see or sense anything. After several minutes the cats went back to snoozing. I didn't get the vibe that it was anything bad, just something beyond our normal awareness.

Cats rule.

The Hustler, with Jackie Gleason...

You all know the story about Jackie Gleason and Dick, right? How according to the story Jackie was a very good friend of Dick, and so the prez once went with him to see the dead aliens stored at the Wright-Patterson base ;-)

That cracked me up. Good to keep a sense of humor when you're losing your mind. I'm joking... sort of. Hey I know exactly where you're coming from. A year and a half ago I woke up with a black amorphous blob floating over my bed. And I don't believe in floating black amorphous blobs. But there it was.

Then a week later (again in bed at night) my head exploded and filled my whole body and the room with electric blue light. It was like the big bang happened in my bedroom. I literally thought I had somehow been struck by lightening through the window. Crazy. I'm not a "new agey" kind of person ya know? But I know the difference between dreams and reality... and this was REAL.

Anyway, good luck and keep your sense of humor.

The Hustler is a GREAT movie.
I didn't catch the Jackie Gleason alien story in that until you pointed it out, oh, yeah.

Not to mention Gleason gives the performance of a lifetime!

~ Larissa here:

I've had similar experiences with "empty spots" being stared at by animals (and growled at by dogs.)

Here's the thing. It could have been an astral or spirit visit, but such an extreme reaction by an animal in a house not known to be "haunted" in the classic sense sounds like more to me. At least if you're an abductee, I would surmise it could be "Them."

Aliens can open "portals" too. Although they're more physical, not astral/ethereal. However, they can also put an invisibility field around themselves and just go somewhere and watch you.

To determine which, you need to more actively reality test these types of situations when they occur. You should watch your cat at the same time you move towards the 'blank spot' she's staring at, then put your hands out and FEEL that zone. Does the cat's gaze move, as if the invisible something moved away from your touch? (Perhaps implying its a physical being after all.) Did you feel anything different? (A ghost would feel like a distinct cold spot. Astrals feel tingly... etc.)

HUD is another great film.

I have to chime in here and share. My dog occasionally is frightened of something in the house and will run right through the front door and out the back door or try to pull me away from going in at all.Or sometimes he will stare like your cat. Once I almost sat him down in somethings lap apparently. I have never heard a dog scream! Made me scream too and I didn't even know what happened! I have had ghostly things happen wherever I live my whole life ( I was born in 1961)and I know who lived here before me and they didn't have ghosts. Anyway the dog was never scared before this house so I talked to a psychic who wrote out a cleansing routine for me to keep the beings attracted here, away. I am no good at doing it regularly so it happens once in awhile. But I discovered that I just go stand where the dog is freaked out being and ask them to go because they are freaking out my dog and since he lives here and they don't they should leave, they do. It is easier than cleaning and sage and all the stuff, which works too. But maybe it is just the intent behind it.He calms down, I should mention the dog also likes burning sage and will park himself near it wherever I put it. But related or not related, I see ufos pretty regularly since 2002. I think they are unrelated. Sightings and ghostly occurrences do not coincide generally for me but I suppose that might mean nothing! I do not channel or communicate with any entities who speak to me telepathically and I don't think I would be likely to believe them anyway. Although I love reading Seth material and he was a bodiless entity speaking through a person. So it is an enigma wrapped in a riddle as they say. I enjoy reading your blog, thanks.

Funny little Hustler synch here (this is anon of the blue light experience-- I really should start signing in with a name). I live in Baltimore and this morning I get an email saying The Hustler is playing at The Charles movie theater (the Charles is one of those old classic theaters that now shows "art" films and old classics). So the Hustler on the big screen!

Larissa's comment about "portals" reminded me of Castenada's "crack between the worlds" that don Juan revealed to him. I googled the phrase and found two interesting sites:

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1252/is_n18_v122/ai_17446764/

Had Spazzy's weird behavior occurred over the weekend there would seem to be a tie-in to Day of the Dead or All Souls traditions (honoring Gleason's achievements?)

Very good description of her actions and your subsequent reactions. Keep up the honest reportage!

Here's a sync.Even though this post was written over a year ago,I've only read it today Dec 24,2010 ,and on Dec 17,2010,
I purchased
"Lonesome Echo" from Amazon
(I haven't got it yet).
A reissue of Jackie Gleason's #1 charting album from 1955,complete with Salvador Dali artwork on the cover.
I mainly got it for the songs,"I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" and
"I Don't Know Why (I Just Do)",plus Salvador Dali's artwork on the front cover.

I had no idea Jackie was into UFOs until I read the above story.

You learn something everyday.-)
