audio conversation with Peter Robbins

Budd and Peter in NYC.

For over 30 years Peter worked closely with Budd Hopkins. This was during a chapter of history where the UFO abduction phenomenon first made it's way into the public's psyche.

Together, Peter and I spend over two-hours in conversation about Budd and his life as an artist and researcher. I have some very rewarding memories of the short time I spent with Budd in 2007 and 2008.

Peter sought out Budd in the late 70's to try to help make sense of his own odd experience. When Peter was a boy on Long Island both he and his sister Helen saw five silver discs hover silently above the neighbors house in full daylight.

We spend most of our time sharing stories about Budd and his research, as well as the supportive and compassionate role he played in the lives of the people who came to him for help. We also discuss the complicated state of UFO research.

It is also important to note that Peter, along with Larry Warren, wrote the definitive book on the Rendlesham Forest/Bentwaters UFO incident in December 1980. The book is titled LEFT AT EAST GATE.

Peter talks more about Budd in these two podcasts. 1) RADIO MYSTERIOSO, 2) OPEN MINDS.

Helen Wheels, as drawn by R.Crumb

Helen was Peter's sister, and she spent time with Budd as a way to help with her own set of life experiences. Helen was a gifted poet, author, actress, horsewoman, naturalist, and gold and platinum record-award winning singer and songwriter. An electrifying stage presence, Helen performed with the Helen Wheels Band. She died in January of 2000.

I'd been waiting a long time for this interview. And just as I expected, it came out great.

It's always a delight to hear Peter muse on a variety of topics, especially the early years of abduction research.

I must also say that it's hard not noticing the many similarities between the 2 of you Mike: You are both plastic artists (illustrator & painter); you were both New Yorkers at some point in your life; you both had extraordinary experiences in the mid 1970s; Peter observed 5 flying disks, and the sequence 12345 seems to be relevant to your experiences, and so on.

I also took this opportunity to go find some Youtube clips of Peter's sister Helen. (1) (2)

It kinda makes you wonder: Lasers, microchips & Velcro; could Punk Rock also be a result of alien reverse engineering? ;)

Helen was also in the movies
Toxic Avenger II & III.
I loved those movies,I have them all on DVD.

Mike,I was wondering if you have ever seen the Peter Weir movie
"The Last Wave"?

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001837/

It was made in 1977,and filmed in Australia starring real life tribal Aboriginals.I saw it as a boy and I've only just seen it for the second time in my life a few weeks ago, with some big synchros coming together in my life (which I won't go into here)after watching it.
I think you would find it intriguing,as it seems to have an understory about alien abduction and interdimentional worlds.
This line from the film suggests this might be the case,

"As a little boy you told me you were afraid to go to sleep at night, because when you go to sleep people come and steal your body"
"Did I say what sort of people?"
"I asked you and you said Taxi Drivers.Taxi Drivers on night-shift stole your body and took you on a long ride to the other world and returned you in the morning. That's why you wake up feeling tired in the morning, you told me."

In fact I get the feeling Peter Weir is trying to tell us something in a subconscious manner, whether he realizes it or not.Look at his movies
"Picnic at Hanging Rock",were three school girls and a teacher disappear from the face of the earth, never to be found again.
"Witness" about government cover ups.
"The Truman Show",about a life being manipulated behind the scenes of a TV reality show.
"Fearless",were a man's personality is dramatically changed after surviving a major airline crash.
So I think his films might be worth another viewing from that angle too.

Also I met Barry Eaton in August at The Byron Bay Writer's Festival.
He has a weekly radio/podcast show where he has conversations much like you do with various guests.
On this one that caught my attention he had Valerie Barrow

http://www.valeriebarrow.com/alcheringa.php

Who claims she was given a sacred rock that was in the possession of Aboriginals for thousands of years, and that it was given to them by space traveler's.Very similar to the "Last Wave" movie,in a way.
At first I thought she was just another nut/liar,but a few things she said rang true with me,so I decided to buy her two books after listening to the podcast;

http://radiooutthere.com/blog/2011/10/13/program-355/

I haven't read the books yet, though I'm halfway through her first. And while I don't agree with everything she says,I think there is definitely something going on here.

I just thought maybe you or your readers may find this stuff interesting.
Cheers.

Brizdaz, that movie looks incredibly interesting! I've spent the last hour watching clips from it on Youtube.

I found this too:

"—This one I’ve seen before. A spirit from the Dreamtime. Aborigines believe in two forms of time: two parallel streams of activity. One is the daily objective activity to which you and I are confined. The other is an infinite spiritual cycle called the Dreamtime… more real than reality itself. Whatever happens in the Dreamtime establishes the values, symbols and laws of Aboriginal society. Some people of unusual spiritual powers have contact with the Dreamtime.
—How?
—Through their dreams. Through ceremonies involving sacred objects… like these stones.
—What is the name of that spirit?
—Ah. Its name is one of the few words recorded from a tribe once active in Sydney.
Now extinct, of course.
—Mulkurul?
—Mulkurul. This is a name given to a race of spirits who came from the rising sun bringing sacred objects with them like these stones. This tribe believed that the Mulkurul expressed themselves through people of unusual spiritual power.
—You mean, they’re sometimes human?
—Yes, the local belief was that they acted through humans.
—White men?
—No. Frankly, I don’t think that any of us has the spiritual powers that tribal people expect from Mulkurul. You see, a Mulkurul has incredible premonitory dreams.
They usually appear at the end of a cycle when nature has to renew itself. Most primitive cultures see life in cycles. Each cycle ends with an apocalypse of some kind.
And then there is a rebirth.
—What sort of apocalypse?
—Oh, usually a natural cataclysm: a freeze, a flood, a big rain."

"Dream is the shadow of something real"... damn!

It's worth watching,RPJ.
In fact I think I'll be renting through Peter Weir's back catalogue in the coming weeks, just to look at them through 'alien' eyes.
I've not seen
Picnic at Hanging Rock" before, even though it was a huge success out here.It was based on a real story which makes it even more intriguing.
"The Trueman Show" I have a copy of,but never thought about it other than a reality show story. But looking at it from an 'aliens are watching' us angle may
be worth considering.
"Fearless" I've seen but don't remember much of.
"Dead Poet's Society" I love, but I don't know how that would play from that angle, although the boys meet in secret in caves, away from the system, while they are supposed to be sleeping.Maybe even "GREENcard" might be worth viewing? That might have a subtext of aliens trying to infiltrate our human society?-)
But "The Last Wave" is good value on a number of levels, for such a low budget movie.

Budd Hopkins is greatly missed. I am the person who talked George Knapp into doing Budd's last live interview on Coast To Coast. There is a back story about Budd's untimely death but I can't go into it here. Let's just say he stepped on the wrong toes. The problem is UFOs are not all flown by true extraterrestrials, the majority of them are owned and operated by our advanced Repto Sapien cousins, who share the Earth with us as their ancestral home world. They are historically cited in about 80 places in the Bible, being described as a SERPENT THAT WALKS UPRIGHT ON TWO LEGS AND IS AS TALL AS A CAMEL (8 FEET TALL). There are statues and temple paintings of them in nearly every ancient society. This has nothing to do with "religious beliefs." It is a proven historical and archaeological fact. That's why I wrote a book showing all of the real world evidence.

WARNING reveals a frightening alien agenda, a long-term program of social domination and periodic controlled genocide. Mankind is now in great danger. We have a terrible problem to overcome. Resolution requires international solidarity, then forcible negotiation with the aliens.

By way of follow-up, this was a very special interview for me, and I've done more than I can remember. Mike's questions were insightful, perceptive and always informed by his courage, thoughtfulness and informed curiosity. He gave me an opportunity to do my best work and for that I am in his debt. As for the origins, agendas and other specifics surrounding the nature and intentions of these other intelligences, my many years as Budd's assistant, colleague, confidant and friend did not supply absolute answers to such questions, nor did I expect the would. I sometimes marvel at the fact that there are many out there who claim that they 'know' the truths about them, even to the point of confidently delineating the mirco-specifics of their true missions, origins or true nature of their missions. One thing that I am sure of though is that deception and the manipulation of human perceptions is a thread that weaves its way through the accounts and experiences of the many hundreds of abductees and experiencers I've had the privilege of working with or getting to know. This is not so much a question of 'good or bad' as it is that the central truth surrounding this most significant core of UFO related studies is never necessarily what it may seem to be. As Budd used to say, 'Why would you trust what they say any more than the US Air Force? Some may interpret this attitude, which I genuinely share, with coming from fear rather than love or any such similar philosophical vantage. Our most hearfelt views and beliefs are, often as not, based in faith, and a desire to see things form a specific perspective and there is nothing wrong with that, but it does pose the problem of slipping into being functionally identical to religion, and that does concern me. For me, one basic precept is absolutely certain: we are not alone, there are other intelligences, likely from differing origins with differing intentions toward we here in the human race, and that they come and go from here with impunity, pursuing their various goals and we are left to wonder, hope, believe and/or fear this ultimate unknown. I have learned to respect what I do not clearly understand, to proceed with patience and an open mind in all of my investigations, and to know that the true answers to the questions involved will likely never be fully accessible tome, and to have that be alright. Thank you again Mike, and I will look forward to our next "Hidden Experience" conversation. Your friend, Peter
