The book deals with a curious think tank within the Intelligence community initially created to look into the UFO phenomenon. After year of covert research with access to top secret government files, the people involved in the research reached a conclusion that those pesky UFOs are not piloted by aliens from another planet, they are instead demonic entities that are here to somehow consume our souls. These zealots proclaim that there is an immediate need to establish an authoritarian Christian surveillance state.
The book is subtitled: The Secret Government Group on Demonic UFOs and the Afterlife.
Nick makes good use of the interview by carefully backing up this extremely bizarre premise. Fundamentalism, occult rituals, Aleister Crowley, heavy-handed demonic deception and plans for global control all collide together during this audio conversation.
I was spellbound listening to Nick weave together the divergent threads of this incredibly strange story. Because of the intensity of the ongoing narrative, I was (mostly) pretty quiet.
Also, see the excellent interview on THE SECRET SUN. Chris Knowles and Nick delve into the esoteric weirdness, albeit in a written format.

And heres's a follow up blog post, featuring an interview with Nick from March 2011.

As goes Nick's book, so goes Quatermass and the Pit (1968)
Good grief, how could I have possibly forgotten to bring up what might be my favorite movie of all time? Hammer studios goes head to head with 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY with this masterpiece. The clip below is the grand finale, so if you haven't seen it DON'T CLICK ON IT cuz it'll spoil everything!
I remember watching this movie on TV as a kid in the early 70's, and it truly blew my mind.
why aren't you in itunes/podcasts?
ReplyDeleteQuatermass & The Pit is great, remember it scaring me as a kid, will need to give it a re-watch as have it as part of a nice Hammer box set. If you've not seen the original TV series it's based it, that's well worth tracking down (I have it on vhs, so assume it'll be on the net somewhere).
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to giving the podcast a listen- Final Events sounds fascinating.
To see the original BBC TV production of Quatermass and the Pit with Andre Morell (Dr. Watson to Peter Cushing's Holmes in the Hammer production of HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES)as Bernard Quatermass go to

Hi Mike,
ReplyDeleteThat was another very insightful and thought provoking interview.
At one point Nick mentioned that the group he was primarily researching thought that 9/11 represented the beginning of the final conflict between good and evil. Did Nick mention any reason that this group thought that? I'm familiar with numerous interpretations of the non-ordinary significance of that event, but I'm still very curious why they picked it out in particular.
Thanks,
Great interview!
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree with Nick that to arrive at the conclusion that aliens are part of Satan's legions, is as overly simplistic as relying on the notion that they are interplanetary astronauts.
The most interesting aspect of all this however, lies not in the UFO phenomenon itself, but on US. The possibility that what some call "the soul" is this quantifiable energy that —with the right technology— could be detected, manipulated, and even (gulp!) exploited.
This is mentioned in Strieber's The Key, along with the notion that those funky big-ass lightbulbs at the Egyptian temple at Dendera, were actually soul collectors. He also went with the quasi-demonic angle with his novel 2012: The War for Souls.
One thing I would love to ask Nick: frankly, the idea that some American organization tried to explain the UFO under fundamentalist terms is not that outrageous; because, let's face it, you Gringos are bat-shit crazy :-P
But what I do wonder is if there might have been official agencies in other countries who also came up with similar conclusions.
Listening to Philip Imbrogno discussing his research on Djinns, and the claim that there might be a multinational group that intended to capture one, makes me think along these lines.
Many people seem to think along the lines that 9/11 was the beginning of WWIII. Greg Bishop, Walter Bosley and their guest Andy Colvin discussed this @ Radio Misterioso.
ReplyDeleteAfter 9/11 those same people began to read Nostradamus verses about the "New City" as a fulfilled prophecy.
Having said that, one could argue these people —who are most, if not all, Americans— gave this increased importance to the WTC crash because it happened to them —which should of course NOT be seen as a trivialization on the tragedy; although it's rather frustrating the need to address 9/11 as an ideological minefield...
Still, one has to recognize the fact that New York *is* the most important city in the world, with citizens representing almost all races and creeds of the human race —that's why Hollywood has always tried to destroy it!
Another book for my huge list of reading musts. Thanks for posting. Off to take a look.
ReplyDeleteGreat interview, you are both very thoughtful and balanced. You are a good interviewer, or a good match with Nick, or both. Thanks to the two of you.
ReplyDeleteRPJ:
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting that you reference the Djinn angle, as one of the Collins Elite people I interviewed (at his apartment - a creepy story I relate in the book) had an obsession with Djinns, and had artwork of such adorned all around his place.
Makes me wonder if there is a tie-in between the Collins Elite and this multinational group.
I heard an audio interview with Phil Imbrogno (sp?) on (I think) Don Ecker's DARK MATTERS radio show.
ReplyDeleteHe spoke at length on the extremely strange stories about the Djinn and weird government stories of an on-going attempt to trap one of them. So weird!
Thanks for the response, Nick.
ReplyDeleteI only wish you get to appreciate the lavish and posh lifestyle MY hard-earned money spent in your must-read books earns you! :-P
No doubt "Final Events" will create a lot of controversy and interesting discussions in the future. I get the feeling that as we come closer to 2012 —for better or for worse—discussions about the afterlife will increase all around ten-fold.
I remember the first time I saw Quartermass and the Pit; I thought to myself---That's it!!! We're their descendants somehow!
ReplyDeleteThis is why we look longingly at the night sky as if gazing home. This is why Mars has held a special appeal to humans in every culture throughout the ages.

ReplyDeleteThis is the main point that Nigel Kerner focuses on in his two books of what greys are and what they want from humans.

I downloaded all of the Qautermass and the Pit tv shows from archive.org. Have the Hammer film on dvd, Downloaded Nigel Kneale's " the Stone Tape" from Youtube, ( another most see if you haven't )read his background on how he did the Quatermass series with no financial reward except his regular BBC wages even when the BBC sold it to Hammer film he received nothing.
ReplyDeleteTold Walt Bosley to watch this. As to all of Redfern, Imbrogno, and the mothman stuff, I truly believe there is a "war in heaven".
NWC
Why in New Mexico? And why the X-Prize Space port west of White Sands and Roswell?
mike,
ReplyDeletefinally listened to nick's interview. i appreciate how you let nick talk, so much info. Go read david lynch's book" catching the big fish" . just watch twin peaks again on hulu. owls...

A set of data can almost never be explained using only a single model e.g. ETH model. The ETH seems to me the best explanation for some UFO cases, but certainly not all of them.
ReplyDeleteThe minute an individual (myself included of course) believes they have the one model that explains it all they become very, very good at filtering out any information that doesn't fit.
Brad Steiger has 17 different models listed on his website and I am sure there are more. The minute someone says this IS what UFOs are I tend to switch off.
