audio chapter - Owls as Archetype

Ryan Sprague

This is an audio reading of a single chapter from my ongoing owl book. The text is read by Ryan Sprague. The chapter is still in progress, and there will be some editing and revisions before publication, but this excerpt should give people an idea of the tone of the project.

I have been writing the book from a first person point-of-view, so I am a character in the overall story. This means Ryan is playing the role of me. I thought this might seem jarring, but it seemed to flow quite smoothly.

  1. Thank you for sharing a portion of your book. I found it interesting and intriguing. Owls have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I have always heard them at night - no matter where I have lived - even in the city. When I lived in the woods of Arkansas my husband and I would often go out at night and sit and enjoy the cool breezes. When we would do this, an Owl would always swoop out of the nearby woods and 'sit' with us in a nearby tree. My husband has about as many Owl experiences as myself. And yes, we are both (ufo) experiencers.
Deer is another animal that we have both had close experiences with.
I have enjoyed reading through your blog. So much of what I have read resonates deeply with me.

  2. "Charicter"? I hope your spell-checking and general self-editing is better in your book.

  3. I really like Ryan sprague, he adorable and I really liked hearing him reading your book excerpt ...can't wait till its done!

I was getting hammered with synchronicity and weird shit that began last year, I found your blog, and then about a month ago the "big one" happened. I went to a job interview and got the job ...well my boss, the owner, a doctor, told me in she was an alien. She's also a reiki master, a hypnotist, a healer and huge supporter of shamanism. Her plans for a spiritual/body/mind healing center here in nyc is amazing. Tell me this is normal!!!

Anyway, thanks for all your work and I really miss your podcasts!!!

  6. At first I wasn't so sure about the idea of anyone else doing the reading for a potential audio-book --you have a nice-enough and soothing voice, Mike. But I must admit young Ryan did a really good job.

Also, I must commend you on the prose. It sounds amazingly deep and powerful so far. The Gnostics would have been proud of you ;)

I really dig the idea of the owl as a teacher, compelling us to see with better eyes what's been there all along in front of our noses.

PS: Cheers, Shan. Good luck on your new job with the alien doctor ;)

    1. Thank you RPJ! Best place I've ever worked, and she is an amazing boss and honestly a good woman who cares very much. Lol, yeah the way I phrased it was weird. She and I had like a deep talk that was nothing a woman of her position would just talk about, but she does and she and She gets it. I mean I'm not sheltered, I've seen crazy shit my whole life im in nyc, this wasn't crazy shit.... Her talking about being An alien and having contact experiences meant something, and it was real. This was like the one thing I was waiting for to confirm my own feelings and I just never saw it being so profound to me.

And thanks for asking some of the best questions ever! :)

    1. Lol, if you say so, man....if I didn't have to question my sanity ever so often this synchro stuff is really fun.

The next time I get bombarded by number/time synchros that won't stop or owls being all over the place, even making personal appearances to say what's up (owls don't really speak to me, come on I'm not that crazy..yet) after an unexpected meeting or a realistic dream..I'll just remember,THIS IS NORMAL. :)

      Thanks! Shan
