audio conversation with Joe Montaldo

Joe is one intense dude!

Get ready, this is a whirlwind interview. This guy has a way of stating some pretty hard to grasp stuff and then just rolling on to the next thing. I needed to jump in a bunch of times and get him to clarify where he got that info. I felt like I played a good role during this interview, because I got Joe to share some pretty impressive findings. I asked a lot of questions, and Joe was super enthusiastic with his answers.

Joe Montaldo has been doing UFO research for almost 30 years. He's Co-Founder, International Director and Spokesperson for I.C.A.R. the International Community for Alien Research. The organization's main focus is on Alien Abductions and the Alien Agenda. I.C.A.R. claims to have investigated over 5000 cases of Alien contact and abductions.

He is also the host of the on-line radio program, UFO Undercover, with a focus on the alien abduction phenomenon.

Just so y'know, I wrote a blog posting back in March (linked HERE) where I kind of editorialized on Joe's web presence. Please know, I like this guy and I pay attention when he talks. I've been listening closely to his on-line interviews, and they can be fascinating and informative.

Joe has a way of stating things as fact, with such absolute certainty, that leaves me hankering for the back-story for each of his claims. And, I gotta say, this long interview was satisfying for me because I could ask the questions I needed to ask to help me better understand the rich tapestry of his research and conclusions.

So, after asking the questions and receiving the answers, what are you left with from the chat with you and Joe?

Frankly, I don't know what to think. Joe talks about this stuff with such a degree of certainty; and he made it very clear that he's not interested in proving any of it to the skeptics —so what are you left with, except for something indistinguishable from religion?

Also, this idea that abductees tend to sever ties with 'outsiders'? there's this saying: "birds of a feather flock together." I'm not an abductee; to me interest in this is purely intellectual (yes: UFOlogy is *my* hobby, and I'm cool with that) but even I acknowledge that I've shared an aspect of my persona on the blogs I frequent that is completely unknown to my closest family —but this is just human nature, not 'abduction criteria'.

I like the guy. I have a real soft spot for super intense zealots, and this guy fits that description.

I'm glad I managed to get him on an interview. My sense after talking to him is that - Yes, he's done a lot of real-deal investigation. I worry that the same powerhouse energy he has in his voice might make him overlook certain details in the research - but that's human nature.

I get the feeling that this guy is on fire with a mission. ANd he is forging ahead with his work (and it's work that I find important, it is NOT a hobby for me).

All that said, I feel a real deal responsibility to pay attention to what he's saying.

    M!

  3. Mmmaybe 'hobby' is not the best word to describe it. But the fact is that just a few UFOlogist are actually doing this for a living; that doesn't diminish the passion or commitment one might have with the subject.

How about 'amateur Ufologist'? We use 'amateur' a lot in Mexico, maybe because it conveys better the idea that you do something just for the love of it :)

  4. "and it's work that I find important, it is NOT a hobby for me)"

I think where Mike was going with that statement, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is that he has been compelled by / confronted with high strangeness in his own life. Speaking just for my self and from a distinctly different sector of the weirdness spectrum, when something reaches into your life of it's own accord you don't necessarily just want to hear "stay calm and stay tuned." You want someone who will stir shit up until he gets to the bottom of it.

I don't want to preempt your own answer, Mike. Sometimes you just seem a little reticent to toot your own horn.

The use of CAPITAL letter for emphasis and be read as SCREAMING.

I didn't really write it that way, but it might look like that.

Joe is an intense dude, and I'm concerned that his intensity might be off putting to listeners. For example, RPJ was concerned his head would explode in March.

All that said, he is doing research, and I owe it to the phenomenon to pay CLOSE attention.

The NON-hobby thing is because I've been so terribly obsessed with my own *hidden experiences* that it's made me sorta crazy at times. That said, I am grilling Joe for deeply personal reasons.

Also - thanks to both of you for paying such close attention to my humble blog!

  7. Joe share's some really curious stuff. This guy is an unstoppable force, and he pretty much sez he is a "communicator" at the behest of THEM. He implies (strongly) that he is doing THEIR bidding by acting so intensely (example: he talks about how much of his own money he's pumped into ICAR). And I say that because I feel like my little blog is being *impelled* by unseen forces (I say that in all seriousness). All that said, I like the Joe because of his zealot energy.

Again - As you listen, keep in mind that he pretty much sez that he's that he is doing THEIR bidding. It makes his overt intensity seem all the more curious.

  8. Joe hit a lot of right notes for me in this pod-cast
(not that I'm an abductee...fingers crossed.-)
,but one note which didn't sound sweet to my ears was when you brought up the word magick, and he said he thought you more intelligent than that.I subconsciously thought your approach was right, and his was the less intelligent reasoning in that instance...and yet I don't know why.It was a gut level thing for me there I guess.
But,I am looking forward to more pod-casts between you and Joe,down the track.
In fact,I thought it was interesting what he said about blue and gray aliens,as blue ones have always grabbed my attention, but not really the gray ones.In fact it was interesting that my last post on my blog was about the " Blue Man Group " and all my favourite blue characters.

  9. May I suggest, as a future guest in your podcast, that you invite someone like Paul Kimball?

It would be a *huge* change compared to Joe's research, but I feel it's fair to look at the point of view of someone who has serious doubts about the alien connection with the abduction phenomenon.

  10. Thanks for putting up this interview...very interesting, and disturbing. It is difficult to try to synthesize all of the varied info out there from various researchers, experiencers, etc...it gets more and more complicated and difficult to harmonize. At the very least, this aspect of existence along with transhumanist developments, species die-off, environmental pollution, GMOs, etc. is enough to push one deeply into a commitment to work on reaching a whole new level of consciousness (maybe madness?).

  11. I stumbled upon your site randomly and it is like so incredible. This guy talks about stuff which sounds like science fiction to me, and yet there is this whole community of this. How come people do not know about this? I mean in the mainstream. For example, I am planning to listen to a scienceNOW blog about people being all excited about finding traces of life on Mars. Scientists are desperately looking for just a trace of plant life from billions of years ago, and here you talk about intelligent advanced life who manipulates people the way we would handle animals in a lab.

  12. Fortunately for me I listened to the second part first. If not I would have ditched the recording and moved on but instead I was much more patient than usual.

I'll eat my leopard print G String if this guy isn't on someone's payroll. His whole gig is to get pissed with the abduction crowd and get laid after.

But more important than his unprofessional idiosyncrasies (my God I have those too) it's the (often contradictory) narrative he weaves which is broadly speaking: 'the aliens are all powerful, we are powerless and they're not really interested in us even though the largest human cattle farm experimentation factory process in history is taking place between them and parts of our immoral and service-to-self shadow military Govcorp wannabe lizards.

I don't have a leopard print G String but like Joe I know how to drop a memorable hook into a conversation to distract, or highlight.

Other than that it's a first class interview because you let him talk himself into a corner.

It took me five hours or more to reach this conclusion. I would never have got that far if I had scrolled down a little further and commenced with the first part I was unaware existed.

I'm really enjoying working my way through your thoughtful interviews and feel I've made considerable progress in formulating my own questions.

Joe's genius is he underscored the narrative I suspect (and have identified elsewhere) the shadow puppets are trying to peddle. He was flawless.

"This was an interesting interview" would definitely be an understatement. As individuals we all bring with us our flaws and assets to the table while trying to figure out the reality of what is transpiring. I know i do.

It seems as though Joe pulls from a large amount of data and experience. With that said, I still have a hard time prescribing to the certainties he puts forward. Its hard to see patterns (which i see) within these experiences and not jump to conclusions. I feel Joe does that too often... but i also feel he seems the type of person to erase these conclusions and come to different ones, so perhaps no damage done. Its certainly hard to come up with answers without having the willingness to have false theories. I just caution that he is putting these theories forward as concrete by his demeanor. He definitely brings a lot of ego to the table (ego can be an asset... so dont take what i am saying as totally bad) I actually like the guy. I know i have ego too. Ego can give people confidence, and confidence is an asset when facing pretty damn scary subject matter.

One thing i never added to my portfolio of weird tales from my life was something i just remembered doing during this interview. As a kid i remember sitting in the back of my mom's station wagon in the days before seat belts. I used to play a game with myself as i watched the road disappear behind us. I sat facing backwards and would point at streetlights and they would go off. This obviously didn't work all the time... i'm not claiming to be superman... i'm just saying that as a kid i thought i had a super power because streetlights definitely would shut off around me constantly. Who knows... maybe i did have a superpower. EGOMAN!!

  15. I like Joe, and I disagree with plenty of his ideas.

The thing I like about his is that I can totally challenge him and say: "Wait a minute, I don't buy that,"

And he'll carefully explain how he came to that conclusion. He might sway me, he might not.

I don't feel any need to "agree" with him. Other folks I feel this need to be polite, and might hold back and just smile and nod. But with Joe I don't feel that way.

So - it makes it easy to talk with him. He has done a LOT more research than I have, but I feel like he treats me as a equal.

If i ever get hypnotically regressed, I think Joe would be a good match for me. I wouldn't be locked into anything, and I could debate in a healthy way.

I have also had SOME SLIder stuff in my life. Look up "streetlights" in the sidebar for "Labels"

  16. So you're still thinking about re-trying hypnotic regression, then?
