The extremely unsettling writings from Dan Mitchell are back on-line (
click HERE). In April of this year he took down the blog in
it's previous incarnation. The story he shared during that phase was saturated in haunting imagery and frightening implications. It read like something from Whitley Strieber or H.P. Lovecraft.
Here's his less than subtle disclaimer:
I present this blog as a work of fiction, but I have a penchant for sarcasm. I present myself as a intellectual function and nothing more.

From Mike Clelland Jan 31, 2022:
I have become suspect of the blog posts and written work by Dan Mitchell. I cannot vouch for his sincerity. I am including this notice here as a disclaimer.

I was fascinated by Dan's posting back during the first version of Luminosity. Here was an extremely intelligent fellow who had a very peculiar and original way of looking at the liminal phenomena surrounding him, heavily influenced by his research of esoteric writings and ancient philosophy. He seemed to have a better understanding of the "overlapping" quality of our everyday reality, with the other realms that might be inhabited with sentient beings —some of which seemed to have a deep interesting in him.
ReplyDeleteThen... something happened. From what I remember, he had a waking encounter with the being he called "the Harlequin", and a subsequent discussion with his dad somehow forced him to reject everything he wrote or assumed about his experiences. It was rather unsettling; something made me wonder if he had suffered some kind of mental breakdown.
I don't know if I'll follow him this third time around. But I know that if you managed to have him on one of your audio interviews —*wink* *wink* ;)— it would be a must-hear.
This new "voice" of Dan Mitchell seems less open and exploratory, and more hardened and condemnatory. Much of what he says seems to contradict others who have had similar experiences to his own in a hostile manner. Where are these harsh feelings coming from?
ReplyDeleteAnd I notice he no longer permits comments.
~sigh~
But thanks for head's up.
I am sorry to use this commenting section as a place for "connection" but Dan if you read this please email me.
ReplyDeleteI read Dan's blog last time around, and I'm really quite glad he's back. As unsettling as his stories can be, his writing is very direct and it seems to me that his viewpoint can't be easily dismissed. After his last blog dismantling, I would check the bookmark I had for his blog every couple of weeks just to see if he would ever reappear. So far his writing is equally as good as ever.
ReplyDeleteIs there an archive of the older blog, or some other way to read the older writings?
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if there is an archive of the older luminosity postings? If not, and if Dan Mitchell reads this, would you consider creating one?
