The audiobook of Stories from The Messengers just hit number one in the UFO category on the audible site. I've been peeking in on the site to see how it's been doing. I think the Skeptiko interview bumped it up to that top position!

Skeptiko with Alex Tsakiris is one of the best podcasts to address the deeper questions about consciousness. I recently spoke with Alex about my owl books, and a whole lot more. Mary Rodwell is a former nurse and midwife, and she now works in private practice as a professional counsellor. She is also a hypnotherapist (including past life regressions), Reiki Master as well as researcher and author. 

Mary is also the founder of the Australian Close Encounter Resource Network, (ACERN). The primary role role of ACERN is to offer professional counselling, support, hypnotherapy and information to individuals and their families with anomalous paranormal experiences, particularly specializing in abduction-contact experiences. This is not a research organization, it is a resource for therapeutic counseling and support.

Skeptiko covers UFOs and consciousness

Skeptiko is a podcast series focused on human consciousness, it's run by a really smart and perceptive host, Alex Tsakiris. Recently he has been turning to the UFO phenomenon as a topic, and with his focus on consciousness the results have been really impressive. Nobody out there is digging into these mysteries with his insights.

I'm linking seven excellent Skeptiko shows on the topic of UFOs. It sorta blows my mind that I'm a guest on one of these episodes.

There have been some questions that arose out of the David Jacobs episodes. I have to say that he comes across sounding quite intolerant of the larger pool of data that has been amassed by people other than himself. This two-part interview is worth listen to just to hear his point of view.

He also made some statements about the late Dr. John Mack that don't seem to ring true. I've included a particular quote from Jacobs (transcribed from part one) and a response from Will Bueche, this text was lifted from the Skeptiko forums. Will worked with Dr. Mack and continues to this day as part of the John E. Mack Institute.

audio conversation with Suzanne Gordon, Ph.D.

I stumbled on Suzanne Gordon through an interview she did on Mysterious Universe. She spoke about her research into the Near Death Experience (NDE) something she had experienced herself.

During the interview she listed off some things reported as after effect of their NDE. Everything on this checklist closely matched what is being reported by people who claim UFO abductions, enough so that I realized I needed to talk with her. I listened a second time and made a list:

~ sense of renewed life purpose
~ changes in religious ideas
~ a sense of mission in life
~ life direction shifts, priority shifts
~ awareness of planetary issues
~ shift in attitudes and feeling accountable for the planet
~ psychic experiences
~ paranormal experiences
~ weird synchronicities
~ difficulties

She even described these folks as suffering from the trauma of enlightenment, that was something that really hit home for me.

The audio posted here wasn’t meant to be a public podcast, it was just our initial hello after exchanging a few emails. By the end of two hours we both realized that we had achieved something really powerful. I am amazed at how deep we managed to dig during our conversation and I am so glad I recorded it.

During our conversation she uses an acronym I had never heard before, but I like a lot. She referred to STEs (Spiritually Transformative Experiences).

Here’s a quote from Suzanne that sums up the tenor of our conversation:

My real interest is consciousness and culture, but what the hell is goin’ on here?

Dr. Gordon's research is the first near-death-studies project to use the ethnographic method, and a health-education and culture-studies framework, to situate near-death experience (NDE) survivors as the insider-experts on the first-hand experience of dying. Her research was supported by research grants from the University of Maryland and the International Association of Near-Death Studies; and it was recognized with an international graduate research award for cross-cultural scholarship in death and dying by the Association for Death Education and Counseling. She is a founding member of the Board of Directors of the American Center for the Integration of Spiritually Transformative Experiences (ACISTE), and a founding member of the National Women's Studies Association's International Task Force on Women's Spiritualities.  She is a lecturer in the Departments of Communication and American Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park.

During the conversation with Alex and Dr. Colli he mentions me and a personal incident that I shared with him during our interview together. This little story was on my mind while I was listening and they addressed it!

Alex doesn't really dig into the alien abduction issues in his interview, but I sure did when I interviewed her! I spoke with Dr. Colli in 2011 and we really tried to look into the deeper issues surrounding the healing of the trauma of a contact experience (my interview linked HERE).

One of the more impressive thinkers in the podcast realm is Alex Tsakiris (left), he is the host of an amazingly thoughtful site, Skeptiko. His overall focus is the mysteries of consciousness and he has interviewed some of the leading researchers and experts in this realm inquiry. You can hear it in his voice that he's searching for answers with an intense resolve that I understand well. His long list of guests include some personal heroes of mine, like Rupert Sheldrake, Jeffery Kripal and Dean Radin.

I was inspired to interview Grant Cameron after hearing him on Skeptiko. When I talked with Grant, I basically considered the Skeptiko podcast as the introduction to my own. When I posted the audio I sent Alex a note to give him a heads up. That started a back and forth set of emails, and we both ended up asking to interview each other. Alex asks much deeper questions than I do, so I suggested that he interview me.

The result is probably the most penetrating thing I've ever been involved with since putting myself out there.

I have to thank Alex for his unwavering dedication to the exploration of some of the more challenging ideas that confront any thoughtful person.

I cannot recommend the Skeptiko sight highly enough. The subject of his shows will only occasionally touch on the UFO phenomenon. He also explores topics like the Near Death Experience, parapsychology and extended human consciousness.

Grant Cameron is a Canadian researcher best known for his research into what the President of the United States may (or may not) know about UFOs. During the interview Grant explains how his previous "nuts and bolts" research led him to the almost mystical connection between consciousness and the UFO phenomena. He has gained a wealth of insights that serve him well in when trying to define the elusive consciousness aspect.

Plus, Grant shares his deeply personal involvement in a UFO flap from 1975. This took place along the USA and Canadian border in Alberta. Hearing him explain the profound amount of sightings (including his own) was absolutely riveting.
