1-2-3-4 and evolution

It happened three times, the number 1234 popped up in curious ways, all dealing with the post THE EVOLUTIONARY TRIAD.

Lesley Gunther posted a link to this long-winded post on her site, The Debris Field. The time stamp is 12:34 AM.

And earlier in the afternoon today, it happened again. I wanted to test cutting and pasting some HTML code, so I used another blog of mine. I posted the same content of the same post, and the time-stamp read 12:34 PM.

And - As I was putting together THIS post, I found another one! The PDF of the WATCHERS excerpt is time-stamped 12:34 too! Thus, a TRIAD of 1234 syncs!

Not sure what to think, but it feels like these subtle little synchronicities are reminding me to pay attention. This was helpful because that post is so nutty that I was questioning my own sanity. And, these are all actual screen grabs!

Another trippy example of 123 TRIAD weirdness connected with the syncro-blending of 2001 and Planet of the Apes HERE.

This was posted on December 3rd. That's another 123.

(and)

I was scanning my hard drive looking for unusually large files and this jumped out at me. When I created The Evolutionary Triad post I created a file (named 2001 apes) where I could dump all the images. This file got buried in the mess of my computer. It was only just now that I found it.

The folder has 123.4 MB of data.

audio conversation with Alan Abbadessa Green

syncrhro-literature

Alan just published a book on a subject dear to my heart, synchronicity. He played the role of editor and collected 26 essays on the subject and compiled them under the title THE SYNC BOOK. The authors and their sites are all listed and linked HERE. And Alan's blog is HERE.

We’ve both been at the receiving end of a lot of profound synchro-weirdness, making this a very lively, ultimately beautiful conversation.

One hour / 47 minutes

During the podcast Alan shares a personal experience that transcends mere synchronicty, and feels more like direct contact with a mystical overlord. This ethereal presence claims to be communicating from Sirius! This is the kind of thing that gets my attention.

Topics discussed include: The 9-11 mega-ritual, Jake Kotze, UFO’s, the contact experience, spiritual journeys, lottery tickets, 2001: A SPACE ODDESY, Charlton Heston in PLANET OF THE APES, Jared Lee Loughner and Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, owls, communications from Sirius, direct gnosis, The Secret Sun, Steve Willner, David Bowman, David Bowie, stuffy academics, blogging and Osiris.

For more audio follow-up, Alan was also interviewed on Red Ice Radio.

12345 sych! (well, almost)

Ooooh, so close!

I am editing the audio for an interview I just did with researcher Fred Burks. We are focused mostly on mind control, but our conversation roams to other topics as well. During the editing I had an issue that I couldn't solve, so I called apple support, I spent some time on hold and when the service person came on the phone I paused the audio.

Now, anyone who's followed this blog knows that the number 123 shows up in my life in odd ways, but I am WAY more intrigued when it's the number 12345.

So, the paused time count read 01:23:44.984, and that is ridiculously close to being a very tidy 12345. Below is the audio text, with the time count noted:

FRED: What many of these people are being lead to believe is there is going to be some great harvest on 2012.

(1:23:44:984)

MIKE: Yep, I've heard that too...

FRED: Where all the good people are going to be taken off to another dimension ad all the bad people are going to be sent off to live of another cycle of incarnation to learn that it's about love, and I don't buy into that.

So, the number (or the almost number) 12345 coincides exactly with the spoken word: "2012" - whatever that means. Chris Knowles says to keep a synchronicity log, and I've taken his advice to heart, and I'm documenting 'em right here in this blog.

Christopher Knowles on Re-Enchantment

This lady needs to start a self-indulgent blog!

Christopher Knowles just posted an essay on THE SECRET SUN that I consider required reading. The post is titled The Re-Enchantment Dialogues, Part 2: Suggestion Box.

-------------------- Here's an excerpt --------------------

We all have a catalog of moments in our life in which we experienced magic, so a good place to begin to reconnect with enchantment is to write them all down. I think you'll find that many more will bubble up as you go poking around for them...

Synchronicity is going to be one of the jewels in the crown of your re-enchantment, so start writing your syncs down. I generally get annoyed when simple coincidence is mistaken for synchronicity, but in this case don't worry about the distinction. Pretend everything is a dispatch from Olympus.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me say that I've taken Christopher's advice to heart, and I did it on my own on March 3rd 2009. The need to do so welled up inside me as a sort of compulsion. Or maybe I was being impelled by my own higher self - or maybe an outside force.

I have been journaling my synchronicities, dreams, memories and odd life experiences right here in this blog. I feel that declaring these things so publicly adds to their power, and (no foolin') the volume knob gets turned up a few notches.

Also: Go to the photo of Mr. Knowles on the right side-bar and check out the quote below, added over a year ago.

audio conversation with Trish and Rob MacGreggor

The husband wife writing team of Trish and Rob MacGreggor.

Synchronicity is an an elusive subject, but it's been the focus of the last three books written together by the husband and wife team of Trish and Rob MacGregor. They've also created a website with a daily posting about synchronicity called Synchro Secrets. The main focus of this interview is the book to the left.

During this recorded interview we take turns sharing a slew of stories - and all of 'em are synchro-weird! We spend a lot to time on how synchronicty and UFO's are somehow intertwined with each other.

I also want to recommend an audio interview between Trish and Anne Strieber (Whitley's wife) from the UNKOWN COUNTRY site. This is lively conversation and it makes for a tidy companion to my interview.

Here's a link to a listing of all of their books.

Here's a funny little thing that happened during our conversation, Trish and Rob spoke about their time with Budd Hopkins. They shared a story where they drove him to meet with a person who claimed a UFO abduction experience. Now this is odd because I also interviewed another author who wrote a book on sychronicity, his name is Gibbs Williams and during that discussion Gibb's also said he had worked with Budd Hopkins.

So, we have two books on synchronicity, and all the authors surprise me by bringing up Budd Hopkins during the interview!

Here's a question from the interview:

I’ve been interacting with a lot of people who claim the UFO contact experience. And I can state this with absolute certainty, these people have MORE synchronicities than the average person without any UFO connection. Why is that?

I wanna hear your synchronicities

Why are synchronicities so intertwined with the UFO phenomenon? This line of investigation is seemingly overlooked, but it has always fascinated me.

I've been mulling over an idea for an article as a way to explore the divergent questions raised by this set of experiences. When I say article, I mean something much more in depth than just a short little blog posting. I really want to explore this extremely curious aspect of the phenomenon. Please know, this is personal for me, and here are a bunch of my own stories.

Here's my question:
Why does almost every person who claims a direct contact experience also say their lives are plagued with profound synchronicities?

When I ask UFO abductees (a term I loathe) if they've experienced any synchronicities, their immediate reaction is to roll their eyes and exclaim, "Oh brother, it's over the top!"

Even UFO Researchers who've never had any kind of personal sighting will readily admit that they've experienced an excessive amount of meaningful coincidences, especially relating to certain cases.

If you have had any synchronicities that seem to be related to personal UFO experiences, I would love to hear your stories.

angel at the grocery store (audio)

This is an audio file I recorded over a year ago. I just found it on my desktop. It's just me reading a post titled Angel at the Grocery Store. It's under 4 minutes long, and it was the third thing I posted on this blog, and it one of the most heart-warming synchronicities I've ever experienced.

Listen to this short little essay HERE

__________________________________________________________

About that Mexican cashier in the story. She said nothing at all, to me or to the customers ahead of me in the line. She simply smiled and pantomimed everything.

In this essay I said that the Mexican cashier was pretty. Well, let me clarify that. You know who she looked like?

If you were doing a movie about the birth of Christ, and you needed to cast a beautiful young woman to play the role of the Virgin Mary, this girl would be who you would hire. Yes, she looked like the incarnation of Mary, mother of Jesus.

It is as if I had come face to face with an archetype of a mystical kind of purity and sweetness. This silent cashier was the embodiment of a subtle kind of perfect beauty. I had never seen anyone that radiated something so kind and calm—except this silent cashier. The Blessed Virgin/Angel/Cashier I saw looked very much like the actress Catalina Sandino Moreno. The girl I saw was barely 20.

Image grab from the right sidebar, June 13th 2011.

As of today I have 123 people who are following this blog. This happened the same day I posted a synchronicitiy about that very number, a set of digits that seems to be invading my life.

another 12345 sychronicity

The frozen time-count on my humble DVD player

Here’s another 12345 bit of synchro-weirdness. The photo above is the time count on my DVD player, and no foolin’, the experience struck me as VERY strange.

On May 31, 2011 at 12:28 AM, I wrote an email to my psychic pal Anya Briggs. This letter has been edited slightly so that certian personal details remain private.

___________________________________________________________
On May 31, 2011 at 12:28 AM, I wrote an email:

Anya B,

I just watched the DVD titled CATFISH. It's a documentary, and it might be fake, and it deals with an artist who falls for a girl on facebook.

There is a lot to the story, but it ends up that this girl is a fake person, who doesn't exist.

Now, the DVD culminates with a loving picture of the fake woman, a still photo from a fake facebook page, and right at that moment my DVD seizes up. The number on the time count is 1:23:45.

I back up, and try again, and the DVD freezes up at the same count. I actually video taped this happening.

Now - I have become facebook friends with a mysterious girl, I don't wanna use her name in this post. I've been worried about her because she has been "hinting" about certain drama in her life, and it might be part of the phenomenon that is the focus of this blog.

Now, the fake character in the movie has the SAME NAME as my mysterious friend! It was a close up on her face when the time counter was stuck at 1-2-3-4-5!

-- More weirdness --

I'll add that I was just about to send her an email ... when the 12345 thing came on my DVD player...

peace,
Mike C!

funny synchronicity

Here’s a funny exchange via facebook between my self and Christopher Knowles. I happened on May 31st, just a few weeks ago. The book in question was talked about during our recent interview. Lemme add that Chris and I have gone back and forth on the issue of the perceived shallowness of the New Age.

Well, this book is way over the top. But the voice of Ida is just so folksy and sassy, that it really allowed me a "way into" these nutty views.

* * * * *

Christopher Knowles:
So for some strange reason I had to take my son somewhere today. So since I had to go way out of my way I stopped at the used book store. And what's waiting there for me? An unread copy of UFOs and the Psychic Factor by Ida Kannenberg...

Mike Clelland:
Get ready, this book is WONDERFUL! That sweet old grandmother has such a delightful take on this subject!

Christopher Knowles:
What are the odds?

(a little while later)

Christopher Knowles
OK, so I pick up this book, thinking "what's this all about, what's it got to tell me?" and open the book up at random as I do with new non-fiction books. I open the book up to page 103 and my eyes focus on the second paragraph...

Mike Clelland:
Ha-Ha! Seems "they" manipulated your path! I love this kind of stuff. Really and truly, it just slays me.

* * * * *

Now check out the funny part. Here’s the first two sentences on page 103 of that cool book, this is what the the second paragraph says:

An example of these mysteries may be that we want him to read a certain type of book. We manipulate his path and so that he stumbles over certain books, which he feels “inspired” to read.

UFOs get mentioned in MAD MEN

The restaurant sequence.

I had a curious thing happen over the winter, it happened while watching the episodic television drama MAD MEN. (Episode title THE GOOD NEWS)

At about the 12 minute mark the characters are having dinner in a small dimly lit restaurant, it features Don Draper and a women from California. As I watched I had the strangest sort of day dream, what if I was in that restaurant, sitting at the table with those fictional people. I wanted to ask these fake TV characters their views about the UFO phenomenon.

This episode takes place in 1965 and the world hadn't been quite as saturated on the topic. I sat there watching, and this narrative played out in my head. I would ask them questions in the hopes of getting some different perspective on this stuff.

This was really odd. I've watched a lot of movies and TV in my life, and that feeling of wanting to enter the fictional scene and ask questions simply doesn't happen. But it did that night, and it was decidedly unusual.

The next scene was them driving home from the restaurant. This is followed by a curious scene that takes place the next morning in the full light of day. Don Draper is seen painting the wall (in his underwear) at the women's house. She sits on the couch and they talk.

Then, at the 21:20 time count the women says something that gets my attention.

Women: "I've seen UFOs."

Don: "You saw a UFO?"

Woman: "Does that scare you? The idea of another civilization on another planet smart enough to find a way to get here."

Don: "It doesn't scare me, but the odds are against it."

Woman: "Well I saw something once, and I'm telling you, it knocked me sideways. I started thinking of everything I was sure was true, and how flimsy it all might be."

Don: "You don't need to see a UFO to know that. That's not a great way to think about things."
So, I had a curious thought where I projected my self into a TV drama. I wanted to ask the characters their views on UFOs, and within minutes I get their answer. I'm not sure what it means, but lemme tell you, it felt strange.

Note that the woman says: "I've seen UFOs" Plural!

Any UFO investigator would ask why has she seen more than one. The implication would be that she  might be an abductee?

The 1966 publication of John G. Fuller's The Interrupted Journey matches the time line of this episode. This was the story of Betty and Barny Hill's abduction account, the first such book in any popular form. The title of the episode, THE GOOD NEWS, is often used as a synonym for the New Testament and the teachings of Jesus.

the golden agate

This morning I received an email from a woman named Nancy. She shared a few synchronicities, but I found one of them was particularly interesting. The text below is edited slightly.
______________________________________________________

The AGATE was given its name by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and naturalist, who discovered the stone along the shore line of the river Achates.

Dear Mike,

I’ve just discovered your very interesting podcast and yesterday listened to your 2010 interview with Gibbs Williams. I’m prompted to write you....

...I’ll share what happened just yesterday. I was walking my daily 5 miles on the beach, looking for agates and pretty rocks as usual, listening to the Gibbs’ interview. A part of my mind was observing that while there were many tourists enjoying the beach, they had left lots of agates for me to discover.

Still listening to you and Gibbs, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be ironic if I missed a huge beautiful agate because I’m looking straight ahead instead of to the left…” So I turned my head, and there, just a few feet away from me, was the largest (perhaps 5”) golden agate (my favorite) that I’ve ever found. Talk about synchronicity! I’m listening to you talk about synchronicities and at the same time, experiencing one of my own most meaningful ever.

I followed Gibbs’ suggestion to try to find the meaning and didn’t have much trouble doing so. My current “issue” or theme is trying to make sense of all the recent information on ufos, alien abductions, other realities, etc. and reconcile those ideas with my own beliefs. I associate golden agates with beauty, gifts from God/cosmic consciousness/universal forces, etc. and often find a special agate when I’ve been puzzling over something metaphysical. For me, this was a sign that I’m on the right path and eased my mind about “rushing” to figure all of this out.

Thank you for sharing your personal search with those of us on the same quest.

Sincerely,
Nancy

1-2-3-4-5 synchro weirdness

Huh? Not again!

I was digging thru some old stuff on my computer, and found an email from last summer that I thought was really curious. How did I forget about this one! There is a synchronistic intensity to this little incident that I find perfectly fascinating. This email points out the 1:23:45 time count on an MP3 audio file, and how I paused it at random. And, this marks an interesting quote in the dialog.

Here's the (slightly edited) email below:

Chris,

...This has been a WEIRD day. I listened to you excellent interview with Tim
Binnall today. At one point I had to run out to the barn, so I hit pause on the MP3.

When I got back, I noticed the time code was paused at 1:23:45.

This has been a significant number
synch for me in the past, so I took note of it. I replayed that section, and here's what you say at EXACTLY that curious time-count:

(you were speaking, quite passionately about Jack Kirby)

"He creates this whole set of characters called the New Gods and they are (exact 1:23:45 time-count) aliens! They are inter-dimensional aliens..."

Now, I don't wanna be overly dramatic, but that is a VERY interesting couple of sentences!

peace,
M!

Psychedelic weirdness from the Great Jack Kirby

Just so y'know, this interview with Christopher Knowles on Tim Binnall’s show is really impressive, and I highly recommend listening to the entire thing. I have an obsessive fascination with the present day UFO lore and how it mimics ancient mythology, and my mentors in this are Knowles and Jacques Vallee. And mixing in the berserk comic book genius of Jack Kirby makes my head spin.

This particular synch takes place in PART ONE of a two part interview. Please visit Christopher Knowles' amazing site, THE SECRET SUN.

And - Here's my personal experience with this same curious time-count in a post from 2009.

bright orb seen by Natascha

The red marker is the location of the campsite, and the blue marker shows where Natascha encountered the bright orb. These two points are approximately 1,500 feet apart. Google maps image, double-click for HI-Rez view.

This is a report of something highly unusual. In the very early morning hours of March 3rd, I was sleeping out under the stars with my pal Natascha. We were both lying in the desert sand in a very isolated corner of southern Utah.

We had been to the multi-day UFO conference in Phoenix, and we were taking the scenic route to my home in Idaho. We had been driving and hiking throughout the day, and we set out our sleeping bags just a little bit after sunset. Instead of getting a hotel room, we chose to camp just off the (very beautiful) Burr Trail Road, about 8 miles east of the little town of Boulder Utah. The map of Utah (below) shows our location with a blue marker.

Natascha had recently arrived from Germany, and she was still feeling jet-lagged, so she couldn’t sleep. She got up out of her sleeping bag at about 2:AM, and tried to do some work on her computer in the front seat of the car.

After a while, she felt cold and took a walk on the road with just the stars for light. This is a very narrow road with almost zero traffic, especially during these early morning hours.

I’ll add that during this time I simply lay in my warm sleeping bag near the car.

Here is her (slightly edited) description of the curious events that followed:

I woke up, thinking it might be about 4:AM (it wasn't, it must have been 2:15 or so). Mike didn't want to get up yet, but I was wide awake. I spent some time looking up at the stars and although I felt nice and warm in my sleeping bag, I just couldn't go back to sleep again.

I finally decided to get up to sit in the car and work on the computer for a while.

It was still quite early (approx 3:30) when I went back to Mike, complaining that I'm cold. He said, he won't get up before the sunrise and that I could go for a walk. I said: "I will get lost in the darkness." He said: "There is the road you could take."

So I went for a walk on the road. It felt good to move. I didn't use my headlamp, the ambient light from the stars was enough. After a short time my eyes adapted to the darkness and I could see where I was walking. The road went uphill towards a huge rock feature. I enjoyed walking in the stillness, there was a dark beauty to my surroundings.

But there was more, I could sense something, almost like a buzz in the air, like the air wasn't empty, there was some sparkling. It felt like I could sense energy. I have this sensation once in while, but here in the darkness and this place of pure nature it felt like I had a heightened ability to "see" more than we usually do. My sensations were enhanced.

I was thinking about this heightened sensation when all of a sudden I saw something very unusual: there, about 150 feet away, close to the ground on the right side of the road was a bright light. It flashed, so I just saw it for a second or so. It was round, like an orb and it was so bright that my first thought was that there is somebody with a very bright flashlight. But it didn't make sense, it just flashed and it was very close to the ground.

Next thought (my mind went crazy, because I wanted an explanation), maybe it was a lightning bug? But the round light was much too big, like two feet in diameter. And shortly after realizing that there was no way I could explain this thing, I started to panic. I turned on my heels and ran back to Mike, looking over my shoulder once in a while because it felt like I was followed.

When I arrived at Mike lying on the ground I woke him up, telling him that I saw a bright light like an orb and that I'm scared and that I won't walk around alone anymore. Well, that made him get up.

I have no idea why I was so scared, and I was relieved that we finally packed up and drove away.

(Natascha's entire report, without editing, has been added to the comments below)
_______________________________________________________
Mike again, chiming in with a little bit more:

While Natascha was walking on that road, I was snug in my sleeping bag drifting in and out of sleep. During this time I heard an owl hooting, over and over, and it was quite close to where I was lying. Here's an audio clip of the very distinctive call of the Great Horned Owl.

Let me add that the night was perfectly lovely, calm and very quiet. The temps were quite chilly, and we both got a lot of frost on our sleeping bags. We saw one car drive down the road shortly after sunset, but as far as I could tell, that was the ONLY car that night.

And - While typing up this post, I got to where I was writing about Natascha's memories, and I felt a little bit presumptuous writing about her direct experiences. And at that exact moment, I received an email from her (while she was sitting in a coffee shop at the Charles Du Gaulle Airport) where she shared her memories. That text is posted above (typed in Arial), with minimal editing by me.

Cat People

I heart Jacques Toureur.

Preface to this post:
I wrote the majority of this text the night of the loud noise, January 29th. This subtle event triggered a flurry of self-examination, and the essay below. It was only the last sentence was written the next morning.

trailer for this evocative movie

The other night I was watching the very cool 1947 film CAT PEOPLE on DVD. I pressed pause and got up from the movie to get some ice cream from the kitchen.

At that point I was thinking about contacting Nick Redfern, and asking him to do an interview. In my head I rehearsed a speech where I would ask him to play the role of psychiatrist as a selfish way for me to try and unravel my own odd experiences.

I returned to the couch (and my black kitten climbed onto my lap) at the 57 minute mark of the DVD, where the psychiatrist character in the film gives a coldly logical speech (excerpted below) directed at the haunted Irena who is trying to deal with her evil cat identity. This heavy-handed bit of dialog seems to define my own challenges.

Irena (the main character in the film) is a deeply troubled artist, and also a shape shifting cat.

The creepy psychiatrist says:
You’re that close to real insanity. I can’t help you, you can only help yourself. You keep going back to the mad legends of your birthplace, forget them. You surround yourself with cat objects, pictures, paintings, get rid of them. Lead a normal life.

It was right at the end of this speech that I heard a very loud thud coming from the kitchen. I was really startled and my kitten jumped up from my lap and she darts to the corner of the couch, a spot where she can zip between the couch and the wall to hide in a zone of safety.

Now, let me say that this little kitten is afraid of nothing.

The sound in the kitchen sounded like nothing more than something plastic clattering in the sink. But, when I got up and looked around the kitchen, there was nothing out of place that might have made such a loud noise. The dishes were neatly stacked, and I couldn’t find anything that might be out of order.

I even tried to recreate the noise by dropping a plastic scrub brush into the sink, but it didn’t seem to sound at all like the jolting sound I had heard moments before.

I returned to the living room, and my other cat, Spazzy, exited the closet and very cautiously walked towards the kitchen. I followed her to see what she would look at, only to watch her sit at the entrance to the kitchen and do nothing. The jarring noise in the kitchen was odd, but more odd was when it occurred at the dramatic moment the film.

Let me add that I am completely thunderstruck by the dreamlike beauty of this film. I had seen it before, years ago on VHS, but this DVD print was remarkably beautiful.

A short excerpt of the creepy doctor and Irena. Beware, this is a mega-spoiler!

There are two domesticated cats are “featured” in the film. A light colored Siamese, and a black one. These match my cats, Spazzy and Jackie. And, there is an exceptionally beautifully photographed sequence in the film where there is a cat sitting on a light-box, curiously similar to my cute cats on light-box video. (posted over a month earlier on youtube)

Cats and a light-box NOT directed by Jacjues Toureur.

The doctor who gave that well scripted speech (excerpt above) ended up dead, the tragic heroine of the film kills him in her shape-shifting puma form after he gives her a lascivious kiss. This attempt at seduction on the part of the psychiatrist seems weirdly out of place, and I am not sure what to make of it. The script is very dreamlike, awash in mythic imagery, and it feels this character represents something calculating in a story full of unrequited passions.

The psychiatrist, the coldly logical force in the film speaks to the tragic Irena:

“You’re that close to real insanity..."

This is a small part of a speech of rationality, and later the doctor is brutally clawed to death by the sad Irena who is lost in a fog of paranormal obsessions. And at the same time, these obsessions prove to be very real. It sure seems like getting rid of a few cat pictures in her dramatically lit apartment wouldn’t have changed who she really was.

I spend a lot of my time trying to come to terms with my own experiences and what they might mean. I know that I am sane, but I have to assume that any pragmatic doctor would logically tell me: "You're that close to real insanity."

It felt like this was a message directed at me. What is the meaning? To ignore rationality and acknowledge the deeper truth that lays hidden in the paranormal?

*       *      *

The next morning I found my wooden scrub brush on the floor of the shower, this was obviously the source of the loud noise from the previous night.

two owls cross my path

At some point during the late summer of '09 I made a sort of pledge; I wasn't going to pay attention to owls that were off at my periphery. I had been seeing so many owls that I needed some way to filter out the ones that were just sitting in a tree as I drove down the road, those didn't count.

I literally stated out-loud that I would only pay attention if an owl somehow crossed my path. Basically, they needed to swoop down in front of me, as if they were demanding my attention. Well, almost immediately after my verbal declaration, the owls seemed to respond - and they would appear in front of me in flight - cleanly bisecting my path.

The overt owl "performance" where they would cross my path happened multiple times in October of 2009. It first happened as I rode my bike thru my little home-town. And again a few weeks later in the presence of Whitley Strieber during a conference in California.

I didn't see many owls during the winter and summer of 2010, there was pretty much nothing for a almost a full year. I saw a few normal owls off on the side of the road as I was driving, it felt like their overt performances had eased off.

In September of last year (2010) I spent several nights in a row recording and editing an audio post about the month of October of '09, and it's overwhelming load of weirdness. Recording this podcast was emotional and time consuming. I would edit late into the night, awash in a sort of compulsion.

Here's where it gets weird. One early evening while I was riding my bike from a friend's house to my home, and knowing that I was on my way to work on that heavy-handed podcast - an owl swooped down from a telephone pole and silently crossed my path, landing on a fence post on the other side of the lonely rural road. I was immediately aware that this was somehow associated with the podcast.

Now, here's where it gets really weird! Two nights later, I was riding home on my bike from town (on a totally different road) and an owl swoops across my path and lands in a group of cottonwoods along side the road, at a bridge across the Teton Creek. Again, this was when I was on my way home to work on that heavy-handed podcast.

This came after a year of almost zero owl sightings.

My consistent interpretation of these owl incidents has been either you're on the right path or pay attention.

But after having two owls cross my path while on my way to edit that audio essay about synchronicities and paranormal experiences, I was imbued with an even deeper dedication to be as honest as I possibly could.

Also, I am pretty sure that the second owl sighting in this story (the one that landed in the cottonwood trees) was the exact same owl from THIS curious posting.

Not metaphorically - LITERALLY!

The cave
Okay - this just happened and I haven’t made any attempt to process or interpret anything, but here goes...

I was up early this morning and my cabin was cold so I put on warm clothes. Sitting at my desk I had a funny feeling under my sweater, right near my left nipple, right at my heart level. It felt like electricity, like an intermittent vibration. I thought that a fly or a mosquito was under my shirt fluttering it's tiny wings against my skin. Like "bzzzzzzzz!"

I've never in my life felt anything like it, and I reached up under my sweater to see it there was something itchy caught inside my shirt. Nothing, but something was definitely odd.

Then, I sent a note (thru facebook) to a guy who I met at a UFO conference, and minutes later he replies to me in a phone call. We talk for almost two hours (imagine that).

At a certain point during the phone call he tells me one of his experiences, a scary story. He said he was alone in his bedroom and suddenly, everything shifts and he's was trapped in a cave. It's wet and the floor is lumpy and cold. He tells me the details and he insists it’s REAL and not a dream. There some sort of projected fear, and he feels that he's being tortured. The story culminates with a GIANT predator lizard confronting him with threats of death.

Okay, crazy story, easy to dismiss as a dream or delusion, right? BUT - for the five minutes while he tells me this cave story - the electric buzzing under my sweater is basically switched ON. The very real sensation stays on for the whole story, and switches off when he’s done.

This was intense, someone shares a fantastically strange experience - AND I FEEL IT AT A HEART LEVEL. Not metaphorically - LITERALLY!!!!

Hows that!

Also, this guy has a lot of profound UFO related stuff in his life, but he doesn’t have many scary stories, he’s had almost exclusively wonderful loving experiences, and he says he’s told almost nobody about the experience in the cave. He went on to speculate that he feels such bliss during meditation that maybe his nice vibes pissed off the big evil predator lizard.

Lemme try to better describe the electric buzzing sensation. It felt like a toy Barbie cell phone set on vibrate was set lightly on the skin of my left part of my chest.

parallel psychic experiences

In the last few months I've experienced some form of exacting psychic knowledge, I had a sense of absolute knowing that was palpable, and I when made the effort to check what I was feeling, and it was confirmed. I simply KNEW something that I shouldn’t have known.

Here’s an example, and I am going to avoid a few details because it involves someone else. I saw a very tiny profile image of a smiling woman on a facebook page, and without knowing why, I simply stated to myself, “This person is 48 years old and a psychic.”

The internet being what it is, it took just a few mouse clicks to get an email address for this person, and a phone number. And, sure enough, she was 48 years old and a psychic. We spoke on the phone for almost an hour, and there were a few other details in her life that were extremely interesting to me (and I’ll leave it at that).

Here’s another experience that, strangely, also involves facebook. In November of last year I contacted Jake Kotze through facebook to ask if he would do an interview. A few seconds after sending him the note, the phone rang and it was a friend from my youth calling to ask about our impending 30 year high school reunion. We spoke for a few minutes, and then she said she had to go. I went back to my desk, and saw that Jake had replied to my request (saying yes) and at that moment I knew, without question, that Jakes birthday was March 17th, (a quick check proved I was correct) and this was the same birthday as the person who I had just spoken to on the phone, but 20 years earlier.

Even though there wasn't anything overtly profound bout these two little events, these were exacting psychic hits, and I cannot state this clearly enough, I absolutely KNEW these facts in a way that was clear and unambiguous.

There are psychics out there who may see this as old hat, but this is something entirely new to me, and I gotta say it's a little overwhelming. All I can do is proceed forward, and hope that these skills can get put to some good use.

the creative process (and inspiration)

First RUFF / color study for comic book idea. Double click for a HI-rez image.

Mac Tonnies spoke to me on 1-11-11. This communication was straightforward and succinct, albeit indirect. I heard his strong clear voice telling me (very nicely) to get off my sorry ass and produce a graphic novel.

This creative prodding came thru in a recent essay, it was a heartfelt piece about Mac Tonnies, synchronicity, the creative process and life. The article was published in The Atlantic by a friend of Mac's named Rita J. King.

The same day I read her piece, I sat at the desk, and began drawing and writing. I've had a fictional story brewing in my the recesses of my head for about a year, and as of now, the pen and paper have met. I'm posting this rough illustration as an overt way to publicly announcing my intention. I feel like I know my own work habits, and by declaring this stuff here, I'm a lot less likely to let this project slip away and never get done.

Thank you Rita and Mac!

this whole blog, read in order

Shortly before the Christmas season (I don't remember the exact day) I had what I've been calling a nice thought. This was nothing more than an idea popping into my head. I thought to myself, I would really love to have someone go through and read all my blog postings, one-by-one in order. Hopefully someone with a fresh perspective could give me a little bit of feedback. But mostly, I just wanna know if I've lost my mind.

Maybe I should have a contest? The first person to read the whole thing could win a gift certificate for ice cream!

Then, just a few days later (or hours later? I can't really figure it out) I received a very nice comment on the winter solstice, from someone calling himself Brizdaz. And, he really did go through and read every post! His summation was entirely complimentary! So, from his feedback, both funny and insightful, I feel reassured that I'm not insane. And, curiously, his very first comment to me (see bellow) was inspired by owls.

Mike,

This is the first time I have read your blog and I find it truly fascinating, so I've decided to start right at the beginning and work my way through ... The first post I read on this blog was "Owl on a Cold Winter's Night" ... then I started scrolling down, and thought, where do I start - the answer - at the beginning, of course.

So I went right back and started scrolling up. So far,I'm as far as the "Owls at Sunset" post, and a thought entered my head that maybe owls are some sort of alien/hybrid cross also, and maybe they can work as a type of alien messenger or drone type creature for aliens to watch us from afar? They do appear otherworldly compared to most birds.

Just a thought, and love the blog.

(PLEASE NOTE: the comment above is slightly edited for brevity)
